Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Boumalne Dades

The 4-day Marrakech to Fez tour begins in Marrakech and crosses the High Atlas Mountains. We will visit an argan oil cooperative along the Tizi-n’Tichka mountain pass (2,260 m), with a stop for photos before continuing to Ait Ben Haddou. This Kasbah was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and is the largest in Morocco, representing the finest example of adobe architecture.

Next, we travel to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara, also called “Hollywood of Africa” due to the numerous films shot there, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. We will pass the Atlas Studios before continuing through the Valley of the Roses along the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, lined with traditional Kasbahs. Finally, we will visit the Valley of the Roses to explore rose products. Overnight stay in a local Riad in the Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga

On the second day of the Marrakech to Fez tour, after breakfast, we will admire the region’s unique rock formations, also known as the “Monkey Fingers” due to their shape. Next, we will visit the Todra Gorges, a natural oasis along the canyon, popular for climbing and photography.

The journey continues through Erfoud and Merzouga, passing the palm groves of Touroug and stopping at a Berber weaving cooperative. Upon arrival in Merzouga, check into your hotel and enjoy free time for a traditional mint tea and rest.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert Tours and Camel Ride

Today is the highlight of the tour: a full desert adventure. First, we visit Khamlia, a small village inhabited mainly by African descendants, where you can enjoy traditional life and local music. Then, experience an off-road 4×4 desert tour, including a stop at the Mifis mine, a working area for the Berbers with trenches about 30 meters deep, and panoramic desert views.

The tour continues to a nomad village where you will taste Berber pizza, followed by a visit to a palm oasis. In the late afternoon, ride a camel to the desert camp, enjoy dinner, music around the fire, and spend the night under the stars.

Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Ifrane – Fez

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the desert. After breakfast, we head to Rissani, a historic village with a traditional market (souk). Continue through Midelt and the Ziz Valley, stopping for scenic views. We will also pass through the Cedar Forest, home to Barbary monkeys.

Next, we visit Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture, ski slopes, and forests. Finally, we travel to Fez, the imperial capital, where you will be dropped off at your Riad or the airport, concluding your 4-day Marrakech to Fez journey.
