Tour 5-day from Fez to Marrakech via Merzouga desert

Day 1: From Fes to Merzouga

Arrival in Fes, Morocco. You will be picked up from your hotel or Riad and head south toward Azrou, passing through Ifrane (the “Switzerland of Morocco”) and then into the Middle Atlas Mountains, with a stop in a cedar forest where you can take stunning photos with the Barbary monkeys. We will continue our journey through the Atlas Mountains, enjoying the landscapes of Midelt after lunch. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a cup of tea. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert Tour

After breakfast, we will begin exploring the area by visiting a community of black Malians to listen to their music and observe their way of life. Next, we will visit the Miffis mines to see how they operate, before continuing past the dunes into a desert with breathtaking scenery. Here, we will have tea with the Berber Bedouins living in tents, tending their livestock, goats, and camels. After tea, your local guides will show you how to mount and dismount camels, along with other important safety instructions, before starting to explore the enigmatic sand sea of Erg Chebbi. Overnight in a Berber tent.

Day 3: From Merzouga to Dades Valley

Early in the morning, we will wake up to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises of your life, casting shadows and colors over the tallest sand dunes in Morocco. After breakfast, we will head to Tinghir and the stunning Todra Gorge, the highest and narrowest gorge in Morocco. Popular activities include hiking and relaxing along the riverbanks and tasting traditional Berber dishes. After lunch at the gorge, we will cross the Dades Valley, ending the day with an overnight stay in a charming hotel atop the mountains.

Day 4: Dades Valley to Ouarzazate

After breakfast at the hotel, we will travel through the Dades Valley to Kalaa M’Gouna along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, which offers varied and picturesque landscapes. Then we will pass through the “City of Roses,” famous for its rose water production. We will continue through Skoura and its palm groves before arriving in Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” which has attracted many major film productions. Before reaching the hotel, we will visit the Atlas Film Studios. Overnight in a riad or hotel.

Day 5: From Ouarzazate to Marrakech

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Marrakech, stopping along the way to admire the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. Before continuing to Marrakech, we will cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) in the High Atlas Mountains, Morocco’s highest pass and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Overnight in a hotel or riad.
